Carn group get the ball rolling
03.03.11
A CARNDONAGH community
group is getting the ball rolling with a unique
fundraiser on Easter Monday.
Bridge Street in the town will be awash with colour
as a cascade of coloured balls are rolled down the
street vying to make it over the line.
The quirky take on the traditional raffle is the
brainchild of the ever-resourceful Teish Doherty of
the Colgan Community and Resource Centre Ltd. It is
hoped the 'ball roll' raffle will raise plenty of
money towards an extension to the Colgan Hall to
include an elevator for people with disabilities,
new cloakrooms and toilets.
"This is hopefully going to raise money for the
Colgan Hall extension and provide a bit of craic for
the people of Carn and surrounding area," said
spokesperson, Jeanette Longwill. |

Tickets will be on sale
at just €2 per ball. First prize is €1,000; second
prize is €500 and 3rd prize is €250. Tickets sellers
are currently out and about getting as many people
as possible to nominate the balls. The first three
balls over the line on the day will win a nice money
prize for the lucky owners. The race will take place
immediately before the town's Easter Parade on April
25.
"Good luck at the race and remember it’s for a good
cause. We are hoping to bring the Colgan Community
and Resource Centre into the 21st century. We can’t
do it without your help so buy a ball or five,"
added Jeanette. |
