Clonmany boxer turns pro
25.07.11
CLONMANY boxer Daniel
Mulhern is limbering up for his first professional
bout next Sunday. Mulhern will fight Birmingham’s
Danny Carr in a four-round, 63kg (light
welterweight) bout in Luton.
“Daniel’s in the best shape of his life,” his
father, Danny Mulhern said this week. “He’s been
working as a plasterer in England for the past two
years, and has been in training for the last 18
months. |
“He’s been doing well
in the amateur ranks with Luton Shamrocks, and some
of his opponents have been English ABA amateur
champions. He figured he might as well try his hand
at the pro game and earn a few pounds.”
Mulhern, formerly of St Bridget’s Boxing Club, boxes
out of the Graham Earl Gym in Luton. Earl is a
former British and Commonwealth lightweight champion
and Mulhern has been sparring with him in
preparation for his first pro bout.
Family and friends from Clonmany and across Donegal
will travel to Luton to support their man on Sunday
week. (Inishowen Independent) |
