Donegal 'open for film business'
28.03.11
DONEGAL is open for
business from film-makers, according to the local
Film Office.
Aideen Doherty of the Donegal Film Office said the
county was producing young movie talent equal to
anywhere in the world. She was speaking ahead of the
premiere of the TransAtlantic 'Internet Whispers'
animation project between students at LYIT and young
counterparts in San Francisco.
"Internet Whispers will demonstrate to industry
professionals that Donegal is open for business. As
a creative county we are producing young talent
equal to that anywhere in the country and as our
connectivity to the rest of the world is no longer
an issue, the county can offer a quality of life to
any young people wishing to stay and work in this
profession," said Ms Doherty. |

'Internet Whispers' saw
students at Letterkenny Institute of Technology
co-produce their own international short film with
students in San Francisco entitled 'Working for
Peanuts'.
The project was facilitated by Cinemagic
International Film and Television Festival with
support from Donegal County Council. Workshop teams
from Letterkenny and San Francisco were linked
interactively through high-speed internet connection
to create moving image art.
The resulting production will be premiered this
Tuesday, March 29 at LYIT at 5pm. Cinemagic will
also screen the film at festivals in Ireland,
Britain and the USA, over the next year, allowing a
showcase of local talent on an international stage. |
