All aboard for Greencastle Regatta
27.07.11
THERE will be plenty of
fun on sea and on land next week as part of the
four-day Greencastle Regatta Festival.
Families can enjoy an action-packed programme of
events from August 4 - August 7 as well as a top
musical line-up including The Fureys and Davy
Arthur.
"Last year was a great success for the regatta
festival, seeing record numbers of people attending.
The annual regatta festival has really established
itself as one of Inishowen’s most enjoyable events
and ensures something for everyone," said
spokesperson, Gemma Havlin.
Apart from the always-popular Blessing of the Fleet,
there will be kayaking lessons, a photographic
exhibition, seafood cookery demonstration,
knot-tying and net mending competitions. |

The 38th annual fleet
blessing will take place on Friday, August 5,
continuing an ever-popular tradition that has been
running since 1973. Meanwhile, the punt races will
start from 2.30pm on Saturday while the open cruiser
races will continue on Sunday, August 7 from 2.30pm.
An angling competition will be held on Saturday and
anyone interested can still book a place on the
boat. Among this year's musical acts will be Pat
McManus, described as one of the world's best
guitarists with a stellar CV including stints with
Bon Jovi, Deacon Blue and Thin Lizzy.
