TWO young brothers had
a miraculous escape after their father accidentally
reversed into them in his van. There is a sense of
relief in the community at Ballygorman, Malin Head
after the boys, aged seven and nine, escaped with
only minor injuries. The incident happened around
7.30pm on Tuesday. It is understood the boys were in
the back of the van but got out without their father
knowing. Garda Inspector David Murphy said: "Gardai
are investigating a traffic collision that occurred
in Malin Head on Tuesday evening where two young
boys were injured. They were removed to hospital for
treatment for injuries which are not believed to be
life-threatening." Donegal road safety officer,
Eamonn Brown, said while he was not aware of this
specific accident, he urged drivers to be mindful of
children around their vehicles. "We would urge
drivers to be mindful of road safety at all times
but particularly now when children are off school
and are out running about or on their bikes in the
good weather. Always take that double look before
moving off to make sure there are no children around
your vehicle," he said. |
