Campfire fun in Dublin for Moville
Girl Guides
18.04.11
MOVILLE Girl Guides
recently enjoyed a centenary celebration around a
big Dublin campfire. The Moville girls who are the
country's newest unit of the Catholic Guides of
Ireland joined more than 1,300 members at Larch Hill
Campsite for the second centenary day for the World
Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. (WAGGGS)
The fun day began with a tree-planting ceremony to
commemorate the last 100 years of world guiding.
They planted seeds that will grow to represent the
next 100 years.
"Moville Guides had great fun on the inflatables,
seeing who could jump the highest and slide the
fastest. Great shapes were made at the silent disco
where each guide had their own headphones and got to
choose their own music. "They also made leather
woggles and took part in a quiz about the history of
guiding," said a spokesperson. |

The day closed with all
1,300 youngsters gathering together for a huge
campfire. "The traditional guiding activity was a
rousing and fitting end to a fun day as CGI looks
forward to the next 100 years of guiding," added the
spokesperson.
The Catholic Guides of Ireland are a voluntary
organisation for girls aged five or over, with
members in both the Republic of Ireland and in
Northern Ireland. Their mission is to provide a
challenging guiding programme within a safe
environment, and to enable all girls and young women
to develop to their full potential. |
