Quilt wonderland in Buncrana
17.03.11
'A WONDERLAND' of
colour will be created this Sunday with a unique
patchwork Quilt Show in a Buncrana bed factory.
The Quilt Show is a charity event for cancer and
Alzheimer's groups organised by local quilting
expert, Gaye Grant.
The event will take place in Restex Beds Showroom,
Lisfannon Industrial Estate, Buncrana this Sunday
from 2-5pm. |
“The showroom will be
transformed for the day into a wonderland of colour,
texture and design," said Gaye.
“The beds will be dressed in a wide variety of
quilts, all made by local quilters and quilt groups.
Many of the newest designs made at The Fennel Shed
Studio will also be displayed.”
Gaye added that the results of the 'Bind us
Together" community fundraising project will be
announced during the show, with three lucky winners
receiving quilts. The proceeds will go to
Letterkenny Oncology Unit, Belfast City Hospital
Cancer Care Centre, and the Irish Cancer Society.
A new fundraiser quilt made by two quilters from
Newtowncunningham will also be displayed for the
first time. This 'Delectable Mountains' quilt will
be raffled later this Spring, |

with all proceeds going
to the Donegal branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
“Internationally renowned quilter Frances Sawaya
will be with us to run a mini workshop, suitable for
little hands, or beginners of any age so bring the
children along and if they make a Spring chicken,
they can earn a chocolate egg,” added Gaye. Entry is
free and all are welcome. Refreshments will be
available. |
