A BUNCRANA sweetshop
assistant has been left "traumatised" after two men
entered the premises and demanded cash.
The raiders, whose faces were partially concealed,
went into the Munchies shop at Lower Main Street on
Tuesday night and ordered the female counter
assistant to hand over money. The men escaped with
an undisclosed sum.
Supt Kevin English said two men, in their 30s and
believed to be from the Buncrana area, went into the
shop around 9pm.
"They were wearing woollen hats and their faces were
partially-concealed. The shop assistant was
traumatised by the experience," he said. He said no
weapon was produced during the incident.
Supt English said his officers were called to the
scene of the robbery and within 20 minutes two men
were arrested within the town. They were taken to
the local Garda station where they were still being
questioned at lunchtime yesterday.
Supt English said some of the money taken in the
raid was later recovered. Anyone who noticed
anything suspicious near Munchies shop around 9pm on
Tuesday are being asked to contact Gardai on 93
