All on board for train documentary 11.07.11

A documentary series about the Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway network is currently being made. The producers, Waddell Media, would like to speak to people from Inishowen with stories about the railway that wended its way throughout the county for 54 years from 1887 to when it closed in 1941.
The documentary is being made for TG4 television.
"We are interested in speaking to anyone who has any memories, however small, of this railway. These could be stories passed on by parents, grandparents or other relatives about journeys on these trains and the impact the railway had on people’s lives at the time," said Waddell Media's Órfhlaith Ní Chearnaigh
The Lough Swilly trains, once a familiar sight in Inishowen.
"Also if you have any memorabilia, photographs or old Super 8 footage of these trains or railway line, we would love to hear from you."
The railway network through some of the most picturesque countryside included Derry to Farland Point with a track to Buncrana. The Letterkenny line opened in 1883 with Carndonagh added in 1901.
The new series is being produced for TG4 with assistance from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund. If you would like to contribute, please contact Órfhlaith on 048 9042 7646 or email orfhlaith@waddellmedia.com .
