Donegal's gift to World Vision 08.12.11

DONEGAL people donated 102 chickens and other alternative gifts to families in Africa last Christmas, according to World Vision Ireland.
People here also bought 40 fruit trees which were planted at schools throughout the continent and "fed hundreds of pupils who may have gone hungry".
"This year €5 will buy one of these precious fruit trees, providing hungry children, who may have to walk for miles to get to and from school, with nutritious fruit to eat. The school can also sell excess fruit and use the money from profits made to provide orphans and vulnerable children at the school with books and uniforms," said World Vision chief executive, Helen Keogh.
“While Donegal people have always been exceptionally generous when it comes to helping those in need,
this year many people simply do not have that much cash to spare. These stocking filler gifts do not cost much but will go such a long way towards changing the life of a child in the developing world." For more information, visit www.worldvision.ie .
