Aurora lights spark business idea
30.01.12
AN enterprising
Ballyliffin man has launched a range of T-shirts to
capitalise on the area's new-found fame as an Aurora
Borealis hotspot.
Michael McLaughlin was quick off the mark with his
range of 'I saw the Northern Lights at Pollan Beach'
T-shirts. |
He said he got the idea
after seeing the amount of free publicity the lights
were receiving in the national and local press.
"This level of media exposure is absolutely
incredible so there was a real opportunity to try
something new.
"The number of people travelling from every corner
of the island and vowing to return is overwhelming,
and the arrival of the Aurora Borealis is a welcome
boost in the normally quiet month of January," he
said. |

Mr McLaughlin whose
background is in marketing and advertising, launched
a new multi-media company late last year.
He is now planning a series of events including a
number of "mini festivals" in 2012. |
