Gardaí renew appeal on Andrew Allen murder 20.04.12

GARDAÍ have for the first time released a photo of the getaway car used in the murder of a man in Buncrana earlier this year.
The photo was released today as part of a renewed appeal for information on the killing of Andrew Allen (24) in front of his partner at Link's View, Lisfannon, Buncrana, on February 9.
Detective Inspector Pat O'Donnell appealed to members of the public who may have seen the grey Vauxhall Cavalier - registration SJI 2117 - either parked or being driven during the month before it was used in the killing.
"This car is distinctive in that it was clean for its age and was equipped with a tow hitch, a sunroof and was missing a front wheel trim," said Inspector O'Donnell.

After the shooting, the vehicle was driven to the townland of Ballyhone, Fahan, and burned out. The group Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) later claimed responsibility for the killing of Mr Allen who was originally from the Waterside, Derry.
Inspector O'Donnell yesterday said more than 150 statements had been taken to date including statements from members of the public.
"It is now over two months since the callous murder of Andrew Allen at his home at Links View Park, Buncrana, in front of his partner, Arlene," he said.
"The investigation into his murder is progressing satisfactorily with the valued assistance of members of the public who have come forward to date.
"I would like to thank members of the public for their help to date in this investigation and I look forward to their continued assistance into the future."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Buncrana Garda Station on 074 93 20540 or the Garda Confidentional line 1800 666 111.
