GARDAÍ are
investigating a knife attack on a debt collector in
Buncrana.
The 47 year old man was attacked as he sat in his
vehicle in the car park of Milltown Business Park,
Ardaravan, Buncrana. He was approached by a masked
man who ordered him to hand over cash. It is
understood the victim attempted to fend off his
attacker but suffered slash wounds to both hands. He
was forced to hand over a wallet containing €1,500
in cash.
After the attacker fled, the victim, who is from the
Letterkenny area, managed to make his way to
Buncrana Garda Station, a short distance away.
He was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where
he received 10 stitches to his wounds. Gardaí are
examining CCTV footage from outlets in Milltown
Business Park.
Supt Kevin English yesterday confirmed that the
incident happened on Friday around 10.10pm.
"We are keeping an open mind at the moment and are
trying to establish who may have known about the
victim's movements in Buncrana that night.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen
anyone acting suspiciously in and around that area
between 9.30pm and 10.15pm," said Supt English.
