DONEGAL Youth Service
has unveiled plans for Buncrana to host its first
‘Intercultural Youth Day’. The event will take place
in Swan Park in July.
Project co-ordinator Julie McGrory said Peace
funding had been secured for the "exciting youth
day" along with a number of other activities and
workshops for young people throughout Donegal and
the border counties over the next year.
Groups of young people will arrive by bus on the
morning of the event accompanied by their youth
leaders and will participate in a carnival-style
procession through the main street in Buncrana.
Activities will then move to the scenic, riverside
Swan Park for a family event with live music and
entertainment.
"We are projecting that approximately 400 young
people will visit Buncrana on that day. This will be
a strictly alcohol-free event and open to all young
people in the area as well as their families," said
Ms McGrory.
Donegal Youth Service is hopeful the event will
mobilise the community with other youth
organisations, sporting associations, artists,
schools and charities invited to take part.
The event will take place in Buncrana on Saturday,
July 28. An information evening at the offices of
Inishowen Development Partnership in Buncrana will
take place on April 4 at 7pm for groups and
organisations to learn more. For more information
