Pianist Nadene scales new heights

GREENCASTLE pianist
Nadene Fiorentini is scaling new heights by becoming
the only Irish competitor in the second round of the
Dublin International Piano Competition.
The 22 year old will be up against 51 other pianists
from more than 23 countries and was one of only four
Irish pianists chosen to compete in this year's
competition.
Nadene, who is a popular piano teacher with local
children, first started playing at the age of five. |
"I am so delighted and
honoured to represent Ireland. It is fantastic to
get this far," she told the Irish Independent.
Nadene was first taught to play by her great aunt
Giovanna. Her grandfather, Ignatius, had moved from
Italy at a young age and later set up an Italian
fish and chip shop in Derry. Her father Frank
remains in the fish and chip sector locally.
Nadene has a masters from the Royal Irish Academy of
Music where she studied under the tutelage of Dr
John O’Conor, the internationally renowned pianist,
and Therese Fahy. |

She is the recipient of
numerous performance awards including the Huban Cup
at the ESB Feis Ceoil in Dublin in 2009.
The semi-finals of the Dublin International Piano
Competition take place at the National Concert Hall
this weekend with the finals on Tuesday. |
