VIGILANTE group Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD)
has issued a chilling warning to drug dealers that
they will face the “ultimate sanction”.
RAAD made the warning as it claimed responsibility
for the murder of Andy Allen in Lisfannon, Buncrana,
earlier this month.
In a claim made to the Inishowen Independent
yesterday, the group said that Mr Allen had received
a warning some months ago but alleged he continued
with his activities. They also claimed the dead man
had been using their name to scare other alleged
dealers.
In a chilling development, RAAD said that they
intended to shoot another individual on the night in
question but police activity forced them to call the
operation off.
They said that target had been lucky on that
occasion but that he was among six drug dealers who
would face the “ultimate sanction”.
Mr Allen (24), a father of two from the Top of the
Hill area of Derry’s Waterside, was killed last
Thursday week when three masked gunmen attacked him
at the home he shared with his partner at Links
View, Lisfannon. The fatal shots were fired through
a window of a ground floor bedroom after the gunmen
failed to gain entry through the door.
The car used by the armed gang was later found burnt
out at Church Brae, Fahan.
RAAD said their second target had been lucky but
that he was among six alleged drug dealers who would
face the “ultimate sanction”.
Shots were fired at two bookmakers in Derry hours
before the fatal attack on Allen, and the attendant
police activity may have been what disrupted RAAD’s
planned attack on its other target.
The group also said they were aware of individuals
making threats and warned they would be "extremely
ferocious in defence of republicans and their
families".
RAAD concluded by calling on all drug dealers to
take advantage of the amnesty they were offering. |
