GREENCASTLE is once
again gearing up for another fantastic festival
after the success of the recent Clipper
celebrations.
Greencastle Regatta Festival will run from August
9-12 and the organisers promise it will be "better
than ever" with a packed programme of top
entertainment and family fun activities both
on-shore and on the Foyle.
The annual regatta festival has established itself
as one of Inishowen’s most enjoyable events ensuring
there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Some of this year's highlights include top live
musical acts; kayak introduction sessions from the
village jetty, seafood cookery demos, knot tying and
net mending competitions and the 'mini-Coast Guard
Games'.
There will punt races, treasure hunt, football, a
craft and produce market and a fishermen’s charity
rowing race.
The punt races will start from 2.30pm on Saturday
11thand the kid’s treasure hunt and football
competitions will begin from 3.00pm. The Open
Cruiser and Drontheim races will be begin from
2.30pm on Sunday 12th. Among the top music
entertainment will be the Knights of Leon; Brush
Shiels & Band; Cavanagh Brothers; Lee Roy Brown. The
festival finale boasts the Dublin City Ramblers -
voted 2012 Ballad & Folk Group of The Year.
There will be a small cover charge of €5 on Saturday
and Sunday evening and traffic restrictions will be
