"Being from Raphoe, I see first hand the tremendous work done by the Tidy Towns committee throughout the entire year and achieving a Silver Award in the Tidy Towns Competition is a wonderful achievement for the town, the committee and all the volunteers and workers."
County manager, Seamus Neely added: "These towns and villages are all worthy of an award and are a great example of what can be achieved by working together in a local community.
"The enthusiasm, pride and dedication of people in their communities have been reflected in the adjudicators' reports and this is something that every Tidy Town committee should be proud of.”
Meanwhile, Abbeyshrule in Co Longford won the overall Tidy Towns award and also scooped the Tidiest Village award. It is the first time it has won a prize in the competition.
