THE Western Trust in
Derry has today set up a special information line
for Co Donegal patients using Altnagelvin Hospital
following flooding at Letterkenny General Hospital.
The Trust today said its acute hospital network is
continuing to provide support to its HSE colleagues
following the flash flooding on Friday, July 26.
It said protocols for the safe transfer and
treatment of patients in the Letterkenny catchment
area have been agreed by the health and social care
partners and are now fully operational.
Director of acute services at the Western Trust,
Geraldine McKay said: “Altnagelvin Hospital
continues to play an important part in the
contingency arrangements in supporting Letterkenny
General Hospital since Friday." She said the
hospital is "coping well" with the additional
attendances from patients from across the border.
"This temporary information line will ensure
accurate information is available to patients who
may be unsure of how to access services," added Ms
McKay.
Co Donegal patients can call (048) 71296201,
from Monday to Friday between 9.00am until 5.00pm.
The line will be operational as long as it is
necessary, the Trust said. Patients will be be given

Letterkenny General Hospital who are also providing
