TWENTY businesses in Co
Donegal have had their water supplies disconnected
or restricted by the local authority in recent weeks
due to non payment of charges. A further 60
businesses and farms have been warned they will be
disconnected shortly if they do not pay up.
"The most recent disconnections took place in
Letterkenny and Ardara with others planned for areas
within the Letterkenny, Inishowen, Donegal, Glenties
and Stranorlar electoral areas in the coming weeks,"
Donegal County Council said yesterday in a
statement.
"These measures become necessary when customers do
not engage proactively and meaningfully with the
council in relation to outstanding charges on their
account." The council said "substantial"
reconnection charges would apply to those affected.
Customers in arrears are asked to contact the local
authority on 9153900.
"Donegal County Council would like to thank the very
many customers who paid their bills and actively
engage with the Council in relation to their non
domestic water account," added the local authority. |
