Derry’s prayers for Leah to get
hired
18.07.13
IRISH medic Leah Totton
had more than just talent and tenacity on her side
in her bid to win The Apprentice.
She also had the prayers of people in her home city
of Derry.
Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Ken
Good, today praised the 25 year old local girl's
"courage and commitment" and said she was an
inspiration to other young people in Northern
Ireland.
"All of us from Leah's home city are delighted with
her success. Her achievement will serve as an
inspiration to all aspiring entrepreneurs," said
Bishop Good.
"It also reminds us of an old maxim that is relevant
beyond the world of business, that the best way to
predict the future is to create it." |

The Apprentice 2013 winner attended Foyle and
Londonderry College in Derry before going on to
study medicine at the University of East Anglia. She
beat off competition from cupcake queen Luisa
Zissman to win Lord Alan Sugar's £250,000 investment
in her business idea – a chain of anti-ageing
cosmetic medicine clinics.
She was crowned winner of the ninth series after a
gruelling competition that saw her quietly emerge as
a serious contender as the weeks progressed.
Bishop Good said he hoped the Derry girl's success
would spur on other young people to achieve their
goals.
"This popular TV series has reminded us of the
extent to which tenacity, courage and commitment are
required to build any business.
"We are facing significant economic challenges and
the need for an entrepreneurial spirit has never
been greater," he added. |
