Students net free places at Shark Camp 02.07.13

SECONDARY school students in Inishowen are getting a chance to study one of the largest fish in the sea as part of a unique 'Shark Camp 2013'.
The young oceanography interns will take part in the free project run by the Irish Basking Shark Study Group in Malin Head from July 29-August 9.
Facilitator Rosemary McCloskey said the course will help teenagers interested in marine science and conservation to boost their CVs in a fun environment.
"Each Shark Camp intern will learn marine biology skills, carry out hands-on fieldwork on the shore and on boats, learn skills in multimedia and video editing and will learn about their marine heritage and potential careers in the marine field" said Ms McCloskey.
Inishowen youngsters will get a chance to study Malin Head's basking sharks.
The camp is free for successful applicants and is funded by the Inishowen Development Partnership and the Irish Basking Shark Study Group.
The project organisers have extended the deadline until July 10 due to interest from other parts of Inishowen and due to the fact that limited places still remain.
You can download an application form and email it to Rosemary at r_mccloskey@hotmail.com . To get an application form click here .
