AN estimated 14,000
people are expected to descend on Letterkenny for
the upcoming Ulster Irish Dancing Championships 2013
(Oireachtas Rince Uladh 2013).
The event will take place from November 20 - 24 and
will attract Irish dancers aged four years to 21 and
their families from all over Ulster and further
afield.
Letterkenny's stint follows on from Buncrana's
successful hosting of the major cultural dance event
in 2011 and 2012. Letterkenny mayor, Cllr Paschal
Blake, said it was "an honour" for the town to host
the competition.
"I extend a Céad Míle Fáilte to everyone...Letterkenny
has a great range of facilities to cater for
everyone and I hope that everyone will enjoy their
stay in the area," he said.
County manager, Seamus Neely, added that the local
authority was "fully aware of the cultural, social
and economic benefits that such an event would bring
to the community of Letterkenny and County Donegal".
The event is a Donegal County Development Board lead
initiative under the auspices of Donegal County
Council and is supported and funded by the
Letterkenny Town Council.
The event will be held in the Mount Errigal Hotel. |
