Squirreling for winter 18.11.13

Wildlife photographer Christine Cassidy recently captured this beautiful native Irish red squirrel in Inishowen burying a nut for its winter food supply.
"When a squirrel carries a nut in its mouth to store it underground, glands in its cheeks leave a particular scent on the nut, which is used to mark it as its own. This smell then helps the squirrel to locate that nut at a later date," explained Christine.
