Donegal school is tops in maths
24.02.14
STUDENTS from Cloughfin
National School in Lifford are currently Ulster’s
best placed school and third nationally in a new
All-Ireland maths competition.
The Donegal primary pupils are among the early pace
setters in the MATHletes Challenge 2014.
However, Galway students and teachers are leading
the country in sign-ups for the challenge. The
brainchild of Sean O’Sullivan, the event is
supported by the Department of Education and Skills
and national education centres across the country. |
"There is a real sense
of momentum behind the competition, with thousands
more students expected to sign up over the coming
weeks," he said.
Some €20,000 in prizes and the title of MATHletes
Challenge Champion 2014 are up for grabs.
MATHletes will see students in each county competing
online and face-to-face in county and provincial
finals, with top scorers advancing to the national
finals, which are scheduled to take place in early
May. For more, see
