"Extraordinary" Dubliner is
Countdown 'Octochamp'

A DUBLINER has been
crowned Countdown 'octochamp' after amassing a
whopping 902 points over eight games.
Bristol-based Mark Murray also became the number one
seed ahead of this summer’s quarter finals of the
Channel 4 word-game show. |
He had previously
scored the season's highest score of 122 points on
the popular programme last week.
Murray, who owns four border terriers, scored 100
points or more in every one of his eight games.
He clocked up 110 points yesterday against hair
salon manager Simon Pinder (69pts) with words
including 'feathers' and the nine-lettered
'mediators'.
The Irishman solved the majority of his numbers
rounds and stunned viewers with the speed of his
conundrum solving during his phenomenal eight-day

Surprisingly he missed
his last conundrum but still sailed through to
the number one slot.
Countdown presenter Nick Hewer described the young
Dublin man’s performance as "extraordinary".
"A fantastic performance. We are very proud of you.
Absolutely brilliant," said hewer.
