Canada head-hunts Donegal hairdressers 03.07.14

SKILLED Irish hairdressers are being head-hunted for well paid jobs in Canada this autumn.
A "life-changing" opportunity awaits for 80 hair stylists and their families at Canada’s leading chain of hair salons, Diamond Global Recruitment Group told Inishowen News today.
The salons are seeking creative stylists for positions in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
Diamond Global Recruitment, the only Canadian firm in Ireland, has been hired to find 80 outstanding, creative hair stylists to work in unisex and men-only salons.
Stylists will have a chance to meet Canada’s hippest salon owners in Dublin, Galway and Cork in the first week of August to show off their cutting and styling talents. Earnings of up to $80,000 (€55,000) are up for grabs.
Diamond says successful applicants "will be offered flexible working hours and excellent industry standard wages and benefits, equal to their Canadian colleagues. "Commission on product sales and significant tips, in the North American tradition, sweeten the total compensation package."
Canada’s labour shortage, along with a declining birthrate has created "an environment ripe for immigration". All stylists will be eligible to apply for permanent residency after one year employment.
Stephanie Sweeney, a 25 year old stylist from Dublin who will be moving to Regina, Saskatchewan with her partner Austin. She said: “We’re very excited about moving to Canada. It’s been a dream of ours for a few years now and when the opportunity came up to interview in Ireland for a job there, I jumped at the chance."
Diamond Global is looking for stylists with a total of 36 months salon experience, however, new graduates with in-salon experience are also welcome.
Successful candidates will commence employment in October 2014.
Diamond Global Recruitment is accepting applications now which can be posted directly on their website at www.diamondglobal.ca/job/hairdresser
