Cathaoirleach Cllr John Campbell said the teams' achievements had given the county a "great boost" as it prepares to enjoy the historic double-header against GAA footballing stalwarts Kerry.
"It is a great boost for Donegal to have our two teams competing in this year's All Ireland finals and win or lose we will all be there to support both teams and their managers.
"The excitement that has been generated by the Donegal football teams is tremendous and we are all looking forward to a great weekend of sport.”
He also urged motorists to take care on the roads this weekend and especially those travelling to the matches in Croke Park.

"Donegal County Council and the Road Safety Working Group has been working with Donegal GAA to highlight road safety messages throughout the year and senior player Ryan McHugh has been a great ambassador for this campaign. This weekend we are simply asking motorists to slowdown and drive safely," added Cllr Campbell. Meanwhile, the pupils of Moville Community College have sent their best wishes to both teams. They said they were "particularly proud" of two past pupils Tony McClenaghan and Ciaran Diver who are on the minor panel.
