€7,000 bill for second home tax dodgers 26.06.14

ANYONE with a second residence or holiday home in Co Donegal who has not paid the taxes due on it now have an outstanding bill of €4,220.
This amount, accrued from 2009-2013, will rise however to a whopping €7,230 on September 1, 2014.
Donegal County Council said it is "actively identifying" property owners who may owe the Non Principal Private Residence (NPPR) liability. It is urging them to register and pay the charge before August 31, 2014.
The council's director of finance Garry Martin said: “The principal charge and late penalty fees for the years 2009 to 2013 is now €4,220. From March 2, 2014, no new late payment penalties have been applied to the amount of €4,220 that is outstanding. However, from September 1, 2014 the amount of €4,220 will increase to €7,230 and will remain frozen at this amount.
He added: “Donegal County Council is actively identifying property owners who may have a NPPR liability using data provided by the Revenue Commissioners and we will be pursuing these outstanding charges."
The NPPR unit may be contacted at www.nppr.ie or by calling Donegal County Council at 074 9153900.
