Inishowen member Christine Cassidy snapped the bird
as it avoided the showers. She explained that the
welcome little visitor was on the Amber List of
endangered birds due to a scarcity of breeding.
"The Snow Bunting, sometimes colloquially called a
Snowflake...is an Arctic specialist. Globally they
breed around the Arctic from Scandinavia to Alaska,
Canada and Greenland and migrate south in winter." |
