CHEF and business owner
Kieran Doherty who will represent the county at the
national Chowder Cook Off has given the thumbs up to
a new marketing initiative - the Food Coast Brand.
“People are really waking up to where their food is
from now, I see it every single day that people want
to know where their food is sourced and where it is
from.
The idea of the Food Coast Brand for Donegal is
immense and is something that I honestly believe all
producers, retailers, restauraunts and food outlets
should be applying for,” he said.
Kieran said the initiative has made a massive
difference to Donegal's food scene in the past few
years.
“We have some amazing restaurants, some truly
fantastic food here in the county and I think that
the brand would bring that extra element of trust
with it to say, we have Donegal food here because
people want to know that these days," said the
Nancy's Barn owner. |

The regional chowder
cook-off, held recently in Killybegs, saw Kieran
beat some stiff competition to claim the coveted
trophy. He is now looking forward competing in the
All-Ireland Cook Off finals in Kinsale, Co Cork.
“I had never entered the chowder competition before
and the standard of competition was extremely high,
so to win it was fantastic and I am looking forward
now to the competition in Kinsale. I’ll be working
away between now and then fine-tuning the recipe to
make sure I can try to get it just perfect," he
added.

Coast Brand or anyone interested in the Start Your
