Donegal Association presents
almost €5K to hostel

MEMBERS of the Donegal
Association in Dublin have presented €4,923 to St
Colmcille Hostel in Letterkenny.
The funds were raised from a charity raffle held at
the recent Donegal Association annual Person of the
Year Ball at which Riverdance founder Moya Doherty
was inaugurated. |

St Colmcille Hostel
opened in Letterkenny in 1997 offering emergency,
temporary, unplanned and homeless accommodation.
It is a 16-bed facility consisting of four single
self-contained units, six family units and one
wheelchair-accessible unit.
"Each situation is dealt with individually and the
length of stay can vary from days to months
depending on the needs of the client," said an
association spokesperson.
"The reasons for admittance include addictions,
mental health, money management, natural disasters
and family break-up.
"Services while staying in the hostel include
counselling and addiction services and many more."
Latest figures show that the hostel accommodated 189
people last year. |
