NORTH Donegal Macra na
Feirme women's team recently represented their
county at the National Dairy Council Basketball
All-Ireland finals.
Twenty six teams from around the country took part
in the day-long event held at the University of
Limerick. |

However, it was
Durrow-Abbeyleix Macra, Co Laois, who took the top
prize in the women's competition.
Tullamore Macra, Co Offaly, won top honours for the
men.
Macra na Feirme national president Kieran O’Dowd
said: “Well done to all the teams who took part.
Basketball continues to be a popular sport in Macra
– building team spirit; improving fitness and
providing a social outlet. Being active is crucial
for health and wellbeing and Macra, along with the
National Dairy Council, are keen to emphasise the
benefits of both exercise and healthy eating." |
