A ROUND of funding for
small regional festivals in 2015 is to be announced
in the coming weeks, Fáilte Ireland has said.
Organisers of small festivals in Co Donegal are
being urged to apply for the grants when they are
advertised.
The tourism body also revealed that €40,000 had been
approved for this year's Earagail Arts Festival (EAF)
under its national festivals and events programme.
Fáilte Ireland ceo Shaun Quinn said: "For Ireland,
festivals are an important part of the mix which
makes us an enjoyable place to visit and the events
which we are announcing today will enhance the
tourism calendar and add to our attractiveness and
our ability to grow overseas visitors and revenue.”
Tourism Minister Paschal Donohoe added: “Festivals
and events encourage greater visitor traffic and
enhance the visitor’s experience wherever they
occur. "Crucially, the event (EAF) funded today will
act as key motivators for tourism in Donegal and
complement the county’s appeal as a visitor
destination.
"I am confident that today’s funding – following the
first phase of funding late last year - will have a
significant impact all around the country.
"To complement this, another round of funding for
smaller and regional festivals will be announced in
the coming weeks," Mr Donohoe added. |
