Almost 8,000 have vision loss in
Donegal
06.07.15
SOME 7,895 people in
Donegal live with vision loss or blindness, a
charity revealed as it announces an information
evening for patients in the county.
Fighting Blindness said the event is for people and
families affected by, and members of the public
interested in, conditions causing sight loss.
The event will focus on rare genetic conditions that
cause severe vision impairment, such as retinitis
pigmentosa (RP), Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease,
cone-rod dystrophies and many others.
The charity's communications and advocacy executive
Caitríona Dunne said: “The rare genetic conditions
that this evening will concentrate on are extremely
complex. We want to ensure that people living with
these conditions have access to information that is
easy to understand and to appropriate supports. We
are very grateful to local eye doctors in the area
who have invited us to Letterkenny for this event.”
It will take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel,
Letterkenny, on Thursday, July 16 from 7pm – 9pm. |
