'Greening of Donegal' a huge
success - tourism body

THE 'Greening of
Donegal' for St Patrick's Day initiative has been a
huge success, Donegal Tourism has said.
It said the project which saw well known local
landmarks lit up green to celebrate the March 17
festivities, not only harnessed strong community
spirit but enjoyed a strong global reach on social
media. |

Among the many
landmarks to go green for the occasion were Castle
Murray House Hotel, Oakfield Park, Solis Lough Eske
Castle in Donegal Town, the Old Church Visitor
Centre and An Grianan Hotel are green, Banba’s Crown
at Malin Head, Bundoran the Tourist Office, Kicking
Donkey, the Radisson Hotel in Letterkenny, Donegal
Castle and Magees Shop went green. These are but
examples of the many locations that went green. |

Donegal County Council
ceo and Donegal Tourism chairman, Seamus Neely said:
"Interest in greening this year has been huge and
local communities and businesses have really come
together to work as teams to organise lighting,
green gels and bulbs, generators and everything
needed to go green. We are very proud of the effort
that has gone into this initiative and well done to
everyone concerned."
Donegal Toursim said the Go Visit Donegal facebook
and twitter pages were "inundated" with people
sending in images and from there they were
circulated online. |
