Artistic Lucia's poster impresses
judges
06.03.15
CARNDONAGH pupil Lucia
Doherty's fantastic artwork has scooped a prize in
Donegal's Road Safety Art Competition.
Lucia, who attends St Patrick's Girls' National
School, highlighted the topical issue of drivers
paying more attention to their smartphones than the
road. |
And she posed the
important question: "Which matters more - your phone
or your life?"
Lucia's painting was one of five category winners in
the countywide primary school competition, sponsored
by Finn Harps Football Club and the Donegal Road
Safety Working Group.
A total of almost 750 fantastic artworks were
submitted to the annual competition.
The four other category winners were Dylan Carlin,
Gleneely N.S., Killygordon; Senan Gavigan, Scoil
Náisiúnta Meentinadea, Ardara; Mikaela McConnon,
Scoil an Linbh Íosa, Killymard, Donegal Town and
Shauna Ní Ghallachóir, Scoil Náisiúnta Gort a
Choirce, Leitir Ceanainn. |

13.
The winning piece will feature as an advertising
hoarding at Finn Park promoting road safety for the
2015 season.
Donegal County Council cathaoirleach, Cllr John
Campbell said: "The competition showed a very high
standard of entry overall. The future of road safety
lies in the education of the young." |
