TD "alarmed" at NowDoc downgrade

McConalogue says he is "alarmed" by plans to cut the
NowDoc out of hours service for north Donegal.
Following information he received, he says it is
clear that the HSE and CareDoc are planning to
reduce night cover hours in both the Carndonagh and
Derrybeg centres.
“I am concerned by the plans to discontinue the out
of hours GP service in Carndonagh, Letterkenny and
Derrybeg and replace this essential service with two
mobile GPs to cover this vast area," said the FF
deputy today. |
“This is an essential
service that must be maintained. Any downgrade will
not be tolerated by the local community. These are
literally life or death issues and the HSE has a
duty to the public to ensure that residents in north
Donegal have access to a local out of hours GP
service.
“NowDoc is particularly important given the
geography of Donegal. I will be making this clear to
the HSE when I meet with management and Donegal
Health Forum representatives tomorrow," he said. |
