US philanthropist receives Tip
O’Neill Award

US philanthropist
Loretta Brennan Glucksman has been named the fourth
recipient of the annual Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora
Award for 2015.
The announcement was made at a special reception
this afternoon at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel,
Buncrana.
Ms Brennan Glucksman has been involved in
philanthropic endeavours for more than two decades,
focusing on education, the arts, healthcare and
peace initiatives in both the US and Ireland - a
passion she shared with her late husband Lew
Glucksman.
Her grandfather, David Brennan, hailed from the
fishing village of Greencastle and her grandmother
was Alice Moore from Co Leitrim. |
Ms Brennan Glucksman is
the chairman emeritus of the American Ireland Fund (AIF)
and is co-chair of Glucksman Ireland House, the
centre for Irish Studies at New York University
(NYU). She also serves on the NYU board of Arts and
Sciences.
Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora committee chairman Cllr
Nicholas Crossan said: “Ms Loretta Brennan
Glucksman’s resumé speaks for itself and it is a
privilege to be in a position to honour her
outstanding contributions not only to the United
States but also to Ireland.”
She will be presented with her award at the
Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Friday, September 25.
Previous recipients of the award were Niall O’Dowd,
Brian Schweitzer and Senator Therese Murray. |
