A crew from top US
television network NBC are currently in Donegal
filming highlights along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Producers Colleen Kelly and Bob Fennell will
broadcast two high profile shows – ‘Family Travel
with Colleen Kelly’ and
‘World Golf Getaways’ to approximately 100 million
viewers throughout America.
The crew's bespoke itinerary was designed by Fáilte
Ireland and includes a number of select experiences
in Donegal
such as sea angling; a fish cooking session and
making St Bridget’s crosses at Glencolmcille Folk
Village. Local
storyteller Charlie Gallagher will be in costume at
Donegal Castle while visits to Narin and Portnoo
Golf Course and
Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh) will highlight what the
county's top golf courses have to offer.
Fáilte Ireland Wild Atlantic Way programme manager
for Donegal Joan Crawford said: “These programmes
including
‘World Golf Getaways’ provide a wonderful
opportunity to showcase the Wild Atlantic Way to a
multi-generational
audience across the United States and it is hoped
that these shows will encourage more family travel
to the Wild
Atlantic Way and Ireland as a result of this
initiative.
“These media are carefully selected to reflect the
media consumption of our key overseas segments in
key markets.
The estimated worth of last year’s (2014) resulting
media coverage for such trips along the Wild
Atlantic Way was
almost €20m (in equivalent advertising value)
reaching an audience of 109m readers, viewers and
online subscribers.” |
