A CHARITY is urging
people across the North West to donate their novelty
Christmas jumpers to help people with terminal
illness.
The Foyle Hospice wants people to recycle their
Christmas-themed pullovers, onesies and other items
through its chain of charity shops in Derry and
Tyrone.
The seasonal clothes will be kept in storage until
next Christmas when they will be offered for sale
again to people dressing up for office parties and
fun nights out.
The hospice said the unique fundraiser would help
the charity capitalise on the Christmas jumper craze
for a worthy cause.
“Why take up space in your wardrobe with an item of
clothing that you won’t wear for at least twelve
months? It is likely that by the time Christmas
comes around again, you might even forget where
you’ve left it or you might want to treat yourself
to a new one anyway," it said.
'Jumper Dumpsters' are now available in all five
Foyle Hospice charity shops in Derry, Strabane,
Limavady and Castlederg. The charity can also
arrange bulk collections from places of work.
Alternatively you can drop your jumpers into the
fundraising office at 61 Culmore Road.
The Foyle Hospice provides 10 beds at its In-Patient
Care Unit in Derry, as well as day care facilities,
community nursing and bereavement counselling
services for both adults and children. The hospice
says the total annual cost of running its services
is circa Stg £2.9 million, the majority of which is
raised by local communities in the North West. |
