INISHOWEN Leaving Cert
students are bracing themselves for results day
tomorrow.
The local teenagers will have smartphones at the
ready as they count their points ahead of round one
CAO college offers next Monday, August 22.
The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) today advised
students to get plenty of rest tonight to reduce
their anxiety levels on results day. The union also
stressed that there is plenty of help available for
people who might feel disappointed wih their
results.
"Receiving the Leaving Cert results and CAO offers
are two of the most exciting and stressful days
young people can experience because five or six
years of studying and hard work leads to one day,"
said USI president Annie Hoey.
Ms Hoey said young people should talk to their
career guidance counsellors if they feel
disappointed and said services like Childline are
also available around the clock on 1800 666 666.
CAO round two offers, meanwhile, will be issued on
August 31 with the USI reminding students that "if
they don’t get their first choice, to wait and see
what they get in the second round".
Ms Hoey said anyone "feeling confused or worried"
about their choices should contact the college’s
Students’ Union or access office.
The USI also urged people to ring their chosen
university's student accommodation office as soon as
possible so they have a place to stay during their
studies. Further ‘digs’ accommodation is available
at homes.usi.ie . |
