Prize Bond holder takes a Punt
07.01.16
SIX new Prize Bond
millionaires were created in Ireland last year with
the latest winner waiting 13 years to hit the
jackpot.
The Euro was only in its infancy when the country’s
latest millionaire purchased their winning Prize
Bond (possibly with old Punts) in Kerry in 2002.
Thirteen years – and the rise and fall of the Celtic
Tiger – later, the bond came up trumps in last
month’s Millionaire Draw.
The six new Prize Bond millionaires created last
year all hail from coastal counties with two from
Dublin; two from Sligo; and one each from Wexford
and Kerry. |

Six new Prize Bond millionaires were
created in 2015. |
The Wexford winner was
by far the luckiest, having purchased the bond only
weeks before scooping the loot, in April 2015. More
than 45,000 other Prize Bond holders received
smaller prizes last year ranging from 50 euro to
1,000 euro. The bonds are a State Savings product
offering Irish residents the chance to win tax-free
cash prizes with their investment instead of getting
deposit interest. |
