Free marine course opens for applications 10.01.17

APPLICATIONS have opened today for the Certificate in Marine Tourism and Seafood Fundamentals delivered last year as part of the Donegal Costal Trail Project.
The course is being run again in 2017 following on from the success of last year's programme, a Donegal County Council spokesperson said.
The next course begins on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
The part-time course is developed by LYIT’s School of Tourism for people working in the marine tourism and seafood sector. It will be run one day a week for 13 weeks in Killybegs.
The certificate is fully funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta and Donegal County Council.
It is free of charge for participants, offering on completion a recognised academic qualification and opportunities to progress to further education.

Inishowen-based Bren Whelan from Wild Atlantic Climbing participated in last year's course.
“The LYIT lecturers were all highly-skilled professionals and the facilities on campus were excellent. My learning opportunities were enhanced through a wide range of expert guest speakers and off-campus field trips to relevant destinations during the course," he said.
"In my opinion, Donegal County Council and LYIT are leading the way with a course that benefits a wide range of people from across the county. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish and would highly recommend this course."
