Join Binky and Zoink at the local
library
27.06.17
THE popular Summer
Stars Reading Adventure is back in public libraries
throughout Donegal this summer.
Join twins Binky and Zoink at your local library and
join in the fun during summer 2017. Summer Stars is
a free programme, open to all children in all local
libraries in the county.
Children will receive their own Summer Stars Reading
Card to record their progress and a stamp will be
added to their card at the library for each book
they read.
Fun rewards will be provided along the way. At the
end of the programme, all children who have
participated will be invited to attend an awards
event. |

Stars Reading Programme in libraries across Donegal. |
Senior Donegal County
Council librarian Donna Cavanagh said: “The summer
reading programme is really beneficial to children
as it keeps their brain active over the summer
months and sparks a creative and imaginative flair
that they wouldn’t have if they didn’t read.
“Evidence shows that summer reading loss can average
two months reading achievement each year, which some
children may never regain.
"Libraries have an essential role in providing
access to books and in designing activities that
help children enjoy reading and develop their
reading skills," she added.
Pop into your local library and sign up today for a
summer reading adventure. |
