Donegal average house price now

DONEGAL house prices
have risen by 11% with the average asking price now
at 140,000, new figures show.
The latest survey from Daft.ie coincides with the
opening today of the Help-to-Buy scheme for first
time buyers.
The new scheme will allow new buyers to claim a
rebate of already-paid income tax up to a maximum of
20,000, depending on the value of the property.
The new Daft.ie figures, meanwhile, show that the
Donegal house price rise, taken in the last three
months of 2016, is 3% higher than the national
average.
The survey reveals that house prices rose
countrywide by an average of 8% last year with the
national average asking price now sitting at
220,500.
The rate of inflation in Dublin was 5.1% while
outside the capital the rate was 10.1% - down
slightly from 13.1% a year ago.
Price Inflation in Connacht-Ulster generally was
12%.
The leading property website said there was a
"noticeable fall-off" in the total number of
properties for sale nationwide in the final three
months of the year.
There were just under 21,800 properties for sale in
December, compared to almost 25,500 the same month
in 2015. |
This is the lowest
national total since January 2007 and marks a fall
of two-thirds from a peak of 63,000 in late 2008.
Report author, economist Ronan Lyons, said:
Overall, the market continues to be characterised
by strong demand, albeit limited by Central Bank
rules, coupled with very weak supply both of new
and second-hand homes. This year has seen a number
of measures that will serve to stimulate demand in
the years ahead. Hopefully next year, the focus will
be on supply. |
