Cancer Bus
16.05.17
INISHOWEN Cycling Club
(Inish CC) hosted their annual charity cycle in aid
of the Donegal Cancer Bus helped along with glorious
sunshine on Sunday, May 7, 2017. A fantastic €3,500
has so far been raised from the cycle.
Departing from Moville FC., at 9.30am, many cyclists
opted for the Inish 60 mile route which is less
demanding but still a fair spin. |

A fantastic view of Knockamany Bends
near Malin Head during the Inish Cycling Club annual
charity event on May 7, 2017. |
The challenging Inish
100 mile route was also popular with locals and
visitors to the peninsula. The day proved to be a
huge success in spite of several punctures and the
odd spot of sunburn for some.
A spokesperson said the success was due to a "great
team" who supported Inish CC in many ways throughout
the day.
"Thanks to Supervalu Buncrana and the Ballyliffen
Hotel who facilitated our water/food stops. As did
Philomena O'Brien at the Wee Hall , Culdaff. Paddy
Gillespie ,Ross Donaghey and Paddy Harkin supported
the cyclists from the comfort of their motorbikes, a
much needed role.
"To all who sponsored refreshments especially
Valerie at Caiseal Mara Hotel, Canny & Doherty
Supervalu, and Eamonn Gillen & Sons , thank you. |

A sunny day for the Inish Cycling
Club charity cycle 2017 in aid of the Donegal Cancer
Bus. |
"Phelim at Border Bikes
provided breakdown assistance, Boyce Paints, Donegal
Fixings, Newtownstewart Construction and Paddy
Devlin all contributed to the day.
"Michael McDaid Photography again generously gave
his day to capture so many memories not to mention
rescuing a "punctured" cyclist. Sean Doherty at
Moville FC was generous with his help as ever.
"Seamus McElvaney who travels from Monaghan every
year with his 'broom wagon' to help us - a special
thank you.
"Our hard working hospitality team earn our
gratitude too, that is Donna, Caroline, Louise,
Julie, Rita, Marylou and Caroline.
"Of course a big thank you to all the cyclists and
their families who came and gave their time, money
and energy to the Donegal Cancer Bus - your
generosity is really appreciated. We look forward to
meeting you again next year, bring a friend (or
more)." |
