Construction work begins at Malin

WORK has begun at Malin
Head to improve access and amenities at the key Wild
Atlantic Way viewing point.
The works at the northernmost Wild Atlantic Way
location, will include road widening; extension to
existing car park facilities; construction of a
toilet block and provision of services and utilities
via the public road.
Donegal County Council earlier this month accepted
the tender of Joseph McMenamin & Sons (Stranorlar
Ltd) to carry out the project following a public
procurement process. |

It is expected works
will be complete and open to the public by early
July 2017.
"Donegal County Council wishes to advise the public
and visitors to the Malin Head Signature Discovery
Point that traffic management will be in place for
the duration of the construction phase and that on
occasions, access to Banba’s Crown may be
restricted, particularly during road surfacing
works," the local authority said.
"It is also worth pointing out that due to the
limited space available at Banba’s Crown, turning
manoeuvres for coaches and other large vehicles may
prove difficult during the construction phase.
"(We) wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused
and would like to thank the public in advance and in
particular the local community for their ongoing
support and co-operation." The project is being
funded by Failte Ireland, the National Tourism
Development Authority. |
