Derry man claims €250,000 Moville

A lucky Derryman who
crossed the border to sunny Moville on May Day
returned home with a €250,000 cash windfall.
The man claimed his whopping prize at National
Lottery HQ today after waiting a full week to come
forward, a Lotto spokesperson confirmed.
It was initially thought the winner was a tourist on
a bus excursion from Scotland. But it was a visitor
from much closer to home - just 30km up the road -
that scooped the loot.
He has asked for his win to remain private.
He bought the prize-winning Quick Pick ticket was in
Kirkland’s shop on May 1, a bank holiday. It was a
beautiful day that saw hundreds of day-trippers
flock to the seaside town to buy ice creams, cool
drinks - and life-changing lottery stubs.
Meanwhile, a St Patrick's Day reveller is missing
out on a pot of gold as a prize worth €500,000
remains unclaimed at the end of the rainbow in
Lottery HQ.
The EuroMillions Plus prize is one of three
identical windfalls, totalling €1.5m, that have yet
to be claimed.
The ticket was bought in Co Carlow for the draw on
the patron saint's day, Friday, March 17. It was
soaking wet around the country that day but will be
even more miserable if the ticket holder doesn't
come forward within the next 35 days.
So it's time to check your Leprechaun suit, or
bottle-green breeches, for the possibly beer-soaked
ticket to instant riches. The winning numbers were:
1, 4, 10, 20 and 28.
Two other winning EuroMillions Plus tickets, worth
€500,000, also remain unclaimed. They were bought in
counties Laois and Cavan on April 18 and April 25,
respectively. The winning numbers on April 18 were:
3, 15, 25, 31 and 39.
The winning numbers on April 25 were: 5, 8, 35, 41
and 47. |
