People invited to join Inishowen Big Clean Up 27.03.18

COMMUNITIES across Inishowen are invited to "come out in force" for the peninsula’s Big Clean Up on Saturday, April 7.
The clean up will take place from 10am until 1pm and groups and businesses from all over the peninsula are being asked to take part.
“This initiative has been taking place for a number of years now,” said Inishowen litter warden Pearse McCrory. He is organising the latest litter blitz along with elected members of the Inishowen Municipal District of Donegal County Council.
“We are asking everyone to make an extra effort this year as it is a special year with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open coming to Ballyliffin in July and we really want to have the peninsula looking its best as we are expecting visitors and TV crews from around the world to descend on Inishowen during the Open," he said.
"Inishowen is also proving to be a popular destination with visitors who want to come along and see where the latest Star Wars movie was filmed and of course to experience our stunning scenery along the Wild Atlantic Way.”
Pictured promoting the Big Clean Up in Inishowen at Ballyliffin Golf Club are Pearse McCrory, Litter Warden, John Farren, Ballyliffin Golf Club, Cathaoirleach Cllr. Gerry McMonagle and Michael McGarvey, Donegal County Council with members of the Ballyliffin and Clonmany Tidy Towns Committees.
Donegal County Council will provide bags, litter pickers and high-vis vests and will arrange for the collection of all the rubbish once it is bagged.
Any group or businesses looking to take part should contact Martin McGough in Donegal County Council on 074 91 53900 or call Mr McCrory on 087 968 9442.
Parents should note that for health and safety reasons, children under 14 are not permitted to participate on clean-ups along public roads.
